Screaming Heads

Screaming Heads made out of concrete may sound a little creepy, but in truth they are kind of…cool. I remember my wife had heard about it on Facebook. She saw someone post several pictures and we thought let’s check it out. So we packed the kids into the car and off we went.

After seeing pictures I have to admit that I did not know what to expect at first. I knew there would be several screaming heads, but are they all packed into a small field or lined up like art in a gallery? If you have not seen pictures before, they resemble the villain’s mask known as Ghostface from the movie Scream. (See Movie Poster)

When we first got there and we saw a few by the parking lot, I was a little confused. I did not realize that we could actually hike on the property to see more. There are roughly 100 sculptures spread out over 20 acres of the property. So off we set on the trail to view these interesting creations in the wild.

Now a word of warning, we went after it had recently snowed. In fact, it had snowed a significant amount. While we were not the first set of visitors and the trail had been walked on several times packing the snow down, it was still a little difficult to walk. At one point we wanted to go see a set of screaming heads that were off the beaten path and the snow went up to our knees. After 10 to 20 steps or so we became tired and turned back. We decided to stick to the path. All the beautiful snow definitely made it more picturesque but did limit us from exploring some of the more remote screaming heads.

If you get a chance to check out these sculptures and take some very interesting photos, do not miss the opportunity. We will be going back, but next time for us it will be on a beautiful summer’s day.
