About The Kearney Cabin…

The Kearney Cabin is a very cute and cozy 2 bedroom cabin on the outskirts of Kearney, Ontario. One bedroom has a queen size bed, perfect for 2 adults. The other has a bunkbed with 2 full size mattresses where the top bunk supports up to 300 lbs. So the top bunk is great for an adult, child, or a place to store your luggage with easy access while visiting. Being a full mattress, a couple could comfortably sleep in the bottom of the bunkbed as well.

There is a 55″ ROKU TV with access to Netflix, Primevideo, Disney+ and many other apps you can log into to access your accounts (Please make sure to log out when leaving). You can access the unlimited wifi through out the cabin for all your social media needs. You can even get some work done if the need arises.

Kearney Cabin sits on a large lot with a wide open backyard that you can enjoy. Lots of room to run around or pass a ball. There is a gazebo and a firepit where you can have a nice campfire depending on the fire ban status. Please remember to purchase your burn permit at the general store and that there is a zero policy with any campfires during a fire ban. There is a deck on the side of the cabin which is perfect for watching the sun set. A large area of city owned bush and forest sits behind the property so keep an eye out for wildlife.

The town of Kearney itself is very small but does offer most amenities including a general store, gas station, a few restaurants, laundry mat, and an LCBO. There are a few other stores and services but if you are looking for anything more you can head into Huntsville which is just a thirty minute drive away. There you can find most big box stores such as Canadian Tire, Walmart, and Metro.

From Kearney it is a short drive to anything and everything! There are 3 access points to Algonquin Park if you wanted to take day trips into the wilderness. If you wanted to go swimming, there are 2 small beaches and a dock within a 2 minute drive (10 minute walk) from the cabin. One of these beaches and the dock do drop off quickly though so most residents in the area with children tend to visit Clear Lake Beach which is just over 10 minutes away. There are also Halcyon Beach and Hutcheson Beach within a 30 minute drive, or you can visit the beaches at Arrowhead Provincial Park though there is an admission fee to the park. For more information on which beaches are near by, please visit Beaches

For those that like to golf there are 2 public golf courses nearby, The Almaquin Highlands Golf and Country Club and the Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course. Not up to golfing? There is the Acres Driving Range close by as well.

Maybe you are a foodie or just do not want to cook while on vacation? If you like to take a walk after dinner, you could walk to “The Fork on Main”, enjoy your meal, and walk back. It is only a 10 minute walk each way. Great for those nights you may want a beverage with dinner and not worry about driving. If you are looking for something more please visit our page on nearby restaurants.

Are you more adventurous? Both ATV trails and Snowmobile trails run right beside the Kearney Cabin. You can ride in either summer (ATV) or winter (Snowmobile) for kilometers. The trails ride all the way around Algonquin park, out to Georgian Bay, and even all the way up to Ottawa.

You can learn more about what to do while at the Kearney Cabin by visiting the activities page on this website. We try to mention as much as we can but there is still so much to explore. Up at the Kearney Cabin, there is always something fun to do.
